Practical guidance

How to choose a health podcast

  • Look for relevant expertiseCheck whether the host or guest is a clinician, a researcher or a person sharing lived experience. All three are valuable, but they answer different questions.
  • Be wary of certaintyGood health shows explain the strength of the evidence and its limits. Be cautious with any episode that promises quick fixes.
  • Pick a format you will finishA focused 30-minute episode may serve you better than a three-hour interview you abandon halfway.
  • Bring questions to your doctorUse what you hear to start a conversation with your own health-care provider, especially before changing medication, diet or supplements.
