Practical guidance

How to choose a sports podcast

  • Decide: reaction or reflectionTeam shows react quickly to games and trades. Athlete interviews and feature shows reward patience and age better.
  • Check who produces itSome shows are made by leagues or governing bodies, others by independent fans or journalists. Both are useful; just know which voice you are hearing.
  • Watch or listenSeveral sports shows publish video. If you prefer to see the hosts, look for cards with a “Watch on YouTube” button.
  • Follow the seasonMany sports podcasts publish more often during the season and slow down in summer, so recent episodes are a good sign the show is active.
